Biography

 

 

Master in guitar from the University of Alicante (Spain) where he studied with a scholarship from Banco Sabadell. During her Masters, she took classes with some of the biggest names on the international scene, such as David Russell, Manuel Barrueco, Paul Odette, Hopkinson Smith, Fabio Zanon, Ignacio Rodes, Roberto Aussel and Shin-Ichi Fukuda. Diogo is  Bachelor of Guitar from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) where he was guided by professors Fábio Scarduelli and Marcos Cavalcante. He received a scholarship from the Young Talents Program of the Magda Tagliaferro Foundation (São Paulo) where he studied with guitarist Fabio Zanon. He participated in several festivals, with emphasis on the Campos do Jordão Winter Festival (2010 and 2011 editions), where he took classes with Zoran Dukić, Michael Lewin and José Antonio Escobar.

 

The guitarist has won several awards in national and international competitions. Was a finalist  of the first edition of the International Guitar Competition "Barrios WorldWideWeb Competition" which took place in Asunción, Paraguay in December 2009. He was also a finalist of the II Medeiros Violão Violão International Competition (Suzano - SP) in 2009.  

 

He performed in solo concerts in several Brazilian cities in the states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, e Paraná. Among his performances in Brazil, we can highlight concerts in the series "Guitar at MASP", Musical Évora (Teatro São Pedro, Porto Alegre), Symposium Academic of guitar from EMBAP (Curitiba - PR), XIV Show of Plucked Strings (SESC Santos - SP) and SESC São José dos Campos - SP. Performed at Unicamp Symphony Orchestra in concerts no Teatro Polytheama (Jundiaí - SP) and at the Centro de Convivência Cultural de Campinas - SP. He also performed at the head of the Orquestra Sinfônica de Sorocaba in a concert at Sala FUNDEC. Internationally, guitarist  played with  flutist Miguel Angel Villanueva at the Bariloche Flute Festival (Argentina). He also gave solo recitals during his Masters in Spain, in the cities de Sax and Alicante.

 

In addition to solo work and with an orchestra, the guitarist has a duo with percussionist Denilson de Paula with which he explores the Brazilian instrumental repertoire and the “Duo Du Vent” with singer Ligia Kamada, where he explores the French musical universe. Diogo has also worked with flutist Cesar Pereira since 2008 and, in 2016, the duo recorded their first CD "Imagens Brasileiras" which was subsidized by the Municipal Culture Fund of city of São Roque - SP. The album's repertoire is  made up of works by Brazilian composers (H. Villa-Lobos, Radamés Gnattali, Sérgio Assad, Liduino Pitombeira and Diogo Oliveira)

 

 

Activity as an educator

 

He created and acted in the “Violão na Moras” Project (2007 and 2008), whose objective was to offer guitar and music theory classes to residents of the PME (Student Housing Program) at Unicamp.

 

He was a guitar teacher at the Escola Pró-Música de Campinas.

 

He is guitar monitor since 2011 in the guitar workshops offered by the Cassiano dos Campos Ricardo Cultural Foundation to the residents of São José Ricardo.
